Where to go in Berlin in May?

The month of May has so much to offer culturally! The Carnival of Cultures, the Theatre Meeting and Berlin Design Week alone are worth a trip to the capital. Here is some information on selected event highlights:

Classic Days Berlin
04 - 05 May 2024
Classic Days Berlin offers the opportunity to see some of the classics of automotive history with the presentation of around 2000 historic vehicles. The Classic Days take place on Kurfürstendamm (Olivaer Platz to Joachimstaler Straße). Admission is free of charge.

Carnival of Cultures
17 - 20 May 2024
Numerous groups of different nationalities present music, dance, performance, visual arts and acrobatics on moving floats at the Carnival of Cultures. In addition to the four-day street festival, the parade is the highlight of the carnival. Over 500,000 people have celebrated the city's colourful mix every Whitsun since 1995.

International Museum Day
19 May 2024
International Museum Day has been held since 1992 and is accompanied by an annually changing motto, which in 2024 is "Discover museums with joy". The aim of International Museum Day is to draw attention to the broad spectrum of museum work and the thematic diversity of the approximately 6,500 museums in Germany.

Berlin Theatre Meeting
02 - 20 May 2024
Every year in May, Germany's most important theatre festival brings together theatre professionals, journalists and guests from all over the world in Berlin. At the heart of the Theatertreffen each year are the ten most remarkable productions, which are selected by an independent jury of critics from around 400 performances of the season.

DFB Cup final in Berlin
25 May 2024
The football highlight of the year is the DFB Cup final in Berlin's Olympic Stadium. 64 teams (36 clubs from the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga and 28 teams from the lower leagues) compete in five rounds to reach the final. The constellation in which the teams compete against each other is drawn at the beginning of June each year.
